  • ELD fee is paid in first distribution of the month

  • Fuel cost accrued in the week is deducted from that week’s distribution. Fuel taxes are estimated weekly and settled quarterly.

  • Operator must maintain a General Liability policy of $2M aggregate coverage, meant to cover liabilities that may arise in areas which are the Operator’s responsibility. Impact must be named as Additional Insured and Certificate Holder. We recommend BiBerk insurance for this coverage, but it is the Operator’s responsibility to shop around. Expect $50-150 per month on this coverage, depending on your history and provider.

  • The greater of $250 or 7% of the Operator’s revenue share from their first 10 settlements will go to a “Recovery Fund”, which will be refunded upon completion of a 45-day cancellation period and return of ELD & PrePass, should they choose to leave Impact

Benefits & Considerations:

  • We work with you to design a strategy that fits your needs and goals.

    • At this time, we are looking for drivers willing to run at least two weeks OTR. We are willing to consider home-weekly structures for those living in high-volume areas.

    • Our goal is to provide you with the ability to maximize the value of your truck and experience, within the parameters of your needs. We know many drivers have families or other responsibilities that make the requirements of this industry difficult, and it is our goal to balance business with these other responsibilities to create a sustainable and fulfilling approach for our drivers.

  • Let’s talk strategy! Impact has hundreds of freight broker relationships, which allows us to provide operators the flexibility of running any kind of freight on any schedule they choose. However, if maximizing financial gain is the goal, we recommend the following:

    • For those looking for a more consistent strategy, we are open to and encourage maintaining a single trailer throughout the year; however—

    • Freight is highly seasonal, and with this in mind, Impact recommends a unique structure wherein the operator, through our accounts and at our volume rates, rents whatever trailer will perform the best at that given time. For example, in the northeast, an optimal strategy would look something like this, which would vary based on market rates:

      • Dry Van from January through March-April

      • Flatbed from March-April through August-September

      • Dry Van from August-September through October

      • Reefer or Dry Van from October-December, depending on rates in the holiday season

      • An operator with experience in feed/agricultural products, other seasonal freight or with experience in tanker or other high-dollar commodities could add in whatever freight would maximize value during a given time of the year

    • A driver could also consider running power-only, which is an incredibly dynamic market with significant volumes almost anywhere in the US, and which may provide reasonable revenues; however, it may be in the operators interest to rent a trailer to allow for much higher rates in the Dry Van market or other markets requiring a trailer. In our experience, running with a trailer of any kind is more lucrative than the power-only market, including the cost of rental or lease expenses.

  • We welcome and encourage our operators to hire on employee drivers to work for them in trucks owned by the operator after at least 6 months operating under our authority.

    • With Impact, you will have the opportunity to grow with us by building out a team of your own.

    • We reserve the right to review each potential employee on a case-by-case basis, and these drivers must meet our criteria, as they will work for you but drive under our authority.

    • Please note that under tax law, these drivers must be classified as W-2 employees if they drive in your truck, and the operator must maintain and supply Impact with records of employment contracts, employment tax payments and workers compensation insurance.

    • What you pay your drivers is up to you, however we expect that they will be compensated fairly.

    • Should you wish to go the direction of hiring drivers, let us know and we’d be happy to support you in the process of setting up the necessary framework.

Example Weekly Settlement:

  • All figures estimated based on 1 week running Dry Van at current rates (Feb 2025) in Northeast US

  • Insurance will vary significantly based on the truck of your choice, as well as your driving experience and record. Fuel is based on cost estimate for a Freightliner Cascadia 126 at around $0.42 per loaded mile, which can be notably more should you choose a less fuel efficient vehicle— fuel economy is key

  • Other lesser expenses may vary as well but should have less significant swings.

  • Note if you own a Dry Van you can discount rental charges, see Benefits & Considerations section for why we’ve structured this way.
